Hi y’all – I hope that everyone is having a FABULOUS Monday so far. I can tell you that Nicky and I are having quite the adventure in Houston. QUITE. THE. ADVENTURE.
As you all know, last week we had some issues with the water in our unit well once that was fixed on Wednesday, we decided to do a load of laundry on Thursday and the plumbers did not hook the washer’s drain hose back up correctly and when it was time for the washer to drain what was in the washtub it did just that all over the laundry room floor and the hallway. Honestly, thank goodness that we did not turn the wash on as we were walking out the door to dinner or something because it would have drained that mess all over the floor and down a couple of units to the condo units below us. So needless to say, we have a really clean entryway floor to our unit. Onward to the next adventure…..
We spent the weekend with my friends, Dana and Wayne in Houston only to come back to our unit yesterday afternoon which we quickly figured out now had no air conditioning. Mind you, it was only 84 degrees in our unit when we walked in and thankfully we had been smart enough to have all the blinds closed to keep the sun out. We were able to get a maintenance person to come by and kindly let us know that it was a part that was needed on the unit on the roof. It wasn’t turning on and he would be back tomorrow (Monday) to fix it. As you can imagine, we were THRILLED to hear that we would be in the unit all evening with no AC. In fact, it was cooler outside than it was inside the unit so we opened the windows and made the best of it.
I started calling first thing this morning to find out when they would be here to get the AC fixed. Originally they stated they would be here at 10 am, then I received a call that they couldn’t make that time and they were looking for someone else to get here. To make a long story short – around 2:30 pm today they FINALLY got the AC fixed and running. (PRAISES!!!) The best part of the story is that NO ONE stopped by the unit to tell us that they had fixed the AC. So here we sat with all the windows open and the fans going full speed. Nicky went into her room to make a phone call and noticed that her room was “much cooler” than it had been before, it was at that point that we realized the AC was fixed.
PRAISES that in no time at all the unit cooled down to a nice and comfortable temperature. I, for one, am looking forward to a nice cool evening when sleeping tonight. Last night I did not get much sleep with all the tossing and turning that I did. The bags under my eyes have “LV” on them. Obviously, I would have designer eye bags.
How is radiation going? Well so far so good. I am going to radiation at 7:15 am CT which means I get up at 6:15 am and after brushing my teeth and getting dressed I jump in the car and head to the hospital. The good news is at this time of the morning there is plenty of parking and usually, no line to get into the treatment room. I am generally finished by 7:30-ish and back to the condo by or before 8 am. As y’all know, I came back to work last week so it works out well for me to have the freedom to work all day without being interrupted to go to radiation – except for Wednesdays. I see my radiation oncologist on Wednesdays so those appointments are still in the afternoons. This Wednesday they will be doing the CT simulation so the doctor can get the formula and measurements perfect for my 4 booster sessions.
So far, I am not feeling much exhaustion (PRAISES!) but I am starting to feel that my skin is getting tender and feeling like a sunburn. I am using the lotion they provided called Nutrashield (found here) and some organic Aloe and my essential oil blend of Yarrow Pom from DoTerra. Hopefully, between all three of these, I will not get any radiation burns. (PRAYERS PLEASE!)
In closing, I just ask that you say a special prayer for Nicky and I that we have nothing else crazy happen to us while we are staying here. We are on the countdown now, only 4 more days left. I am also posting a few photos from the weekend with Dana and Wayne. We thank you both so much for having us over, feeding us well, and showing us some amazing restaurants in Houston. We love y’all so much!
Xo,
Tracy (and Nicky) live from Houston
