Just me, checking in…

Hi, y’all – Happy Tuesday!  I am home recuperating from my surgery a week ago today.  I honestly can’t believe that it’s already been a week.  I was thinking about it last night and I don’t remember much of what I did last week, however, I know it wasn’t a whole lot.  In fact, yesterday, I spent the whole day just relaxing on the couch and binge-watching Netflix.  I am happy to announce that I have completed the second season of Bridgerton – just fyi, it was wonderful, if you liked the first season you will like this season as well.  I am also almost caught up with Queen of the South season 5 – also another favorite of mine.

I did make myself go for a walk yesterday and today.  The walks are tough but I know it’s good for me and recommended by my doctor.  I am almost off my pain meds.  I still take them at night so I can sleep comfortably, well as comfortably as I can sleep on my back when I’m a side sleeper, but somehow I am managing.

I have been having quite the time with Unum, which is the company that handles my short-term disability insurance through work.   I honestly don’t understand why these companies wait until after your surgery to then decide they need “more information” to continue to process my claim.   The day after surgery they decided that they now needed additional documentation – medical records from surgery, notes, etc.  It’s all such a mess to have to deal with this stuff when you should be resting and healing.  Today I spent some time this morning speaking to Unum and reaching out to MD Anderston to request the appropriate information.   We will see how quickly I can get this settled between the two companies.  Good times y’all, good times!

Tomorrow my parents are coming into town and I.  CAN’T.  WAIT.  I haven’t seen my parents since I went to Florida in January 2021 to take care of my mother after her back surgery.  That is a long time to not see family.  With COVID and cancer, I’ve had to remain very careful for traveling and being exposed to something that would have made me really sick which is the reason I was not allowed to travel or them to travel to me.   I can’t wait to give my folks a big hug and just enjoy spending some quality time with them over the next week.  We have no plans to do anything – which is great!  The weather is still nice here, so I know we will spend some time enjoying the backyard and just chatting and catching up.  I will take some photos to share but I may not blog until they are gone.  We shall see….

I am heading to acupuncture this afternoon, which is always helpful and healing for me and my body.  I am addicted to acupuncture and I believe it’s a BIG reason why I did so well through chemotherapy.  I had minimal symptoms compared to others I know.  My acupuncturist is wonderful – here is the link to Good Point Acupuncture for anyone who is interested in trying it out.  Tell Yvonne that Tracy sent you! 🙂

I keep reminding myself that I had a 7+ hour surgery, 7 days ago and that I am not superwoman and still need my rest.  For those that know me – you know how hard that is for me!  Just ask Mano, I am not the best patient.  I’m going to keep this short today because typing it beginning to hurt a bit – I do want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out to check on me. I am still alive and kicking and moving forward slowly but surely.

Till next time –

Xo,

Tracy

Photo proof of me today – Blue is definitely a good color for me!
