Happy New Year Y’all –
I’m sure that many of you were up late last night and enjoyed seeing the Ball drop in Times Square, watching and welcoming the New Year in, and just hoping (praying) that 2022 will be a better year than 2021 was for most of us. I, however, was snuggled in bed asleep for probably the first time in over 30 years. It’s hard to believe now that I was once a crazy party animal and often the life of the party. LOL.
Today I want to write and share the one word that keeps coming to my mind and the one word that I feel can change the way we all see and experience the New Year and that word is GRATITUDE. Doesn’t that just flow off the tongue?
I honestly believe if we can spend this next year focused on the things we are GRATEFUL for, instead of focusing on the not-so-positive things we can change the way we experience and perceive this year and the way that this year will treat us.
I am no expert but I know that I have practiced being GRATEFUL and showing GRATITUDE for everything since starting this cancer journey which has changed my perspective and perception while walking this path. I went into this knowing that there were going to be moments that were hard, but I also went into this saying Thank You often – thank you for my amazing care team, thank you for the chemotherapy that is available to me to kill cancer, thank you to my family and friends for their support and prayers, thank you to my husband and children for walking this path with me, thank you for my job and health insurance so I can get the treatment I need, thank you, thank you, thank you. Through each of the AC Chemo sessions, I changed my perception of what Adromycin would do to my tumor, and instead of listening to the negative labels of the past which called it Red Devil or Red Death, I renamed it Red Delight and even got Brandi on the same page with me and as it was injected into my port she would say “Here comes the Red Delight to do its job” – and you know what? It did – that is why I believe my tumor shrunk 82% in volume from the first 4 rounds of chemotherapy. Praises yes – GRATEFUL yes!!!
There are a ton of books, articles, podcasts, TED talks, you name it that show how powerful showing GRATITUDE and being GRATEFUL can do to change your life. Heck, a few years back there was a book and a movie called The Secret by Rhonda Burnes that spoke all about this theory. (The book can be found on Amazon here). Trust me when I say that there is something to be said about putting your mind and thoughts into a state of GRATITUDE that will change your life!
In the past week, I’ve received the following daily inspirations that all focus on GRATITUDE! I am sharing them below:
- Expressing GRATITUDE instantly shifts your vibration so that the good in everything moves toward you. Sandra Gallagher – CEO and Co-Founder at Proctor Gallagher Institute
- Let’s start with what we can be THANKFUL for, and get our mind into that vibration, and then watch the good that starts to come, because one thought leads to another thought. Bob Proctor – Author-Speaker
- GRATITUDE opens the door to….the power, the wisdom, the creativity of the universe. You open the door through gratitude. Deepak Chopra – Indian-American Author-Alternative Medicine Advocate
- When I started counting my BLESSINGS, my whole life turned around. Willie Nelson – Musician-Actor-Activist
For those of you struggling to understand what is GRATITUDE? I’ve found the following definition from Nick Ortner, CEO of The Tapping Solution, LLC, that may help: Nick says:
GRATITUDE is a habit, a way of looking at the world and all the good things in it with a feeling of appreciation regardless of whether or not your current situation is to your liking. GRATITUDE is a heart-centered approach to being at peace with yourself and with all you have. When you practice GRATITUDE, it attracts even MORE things into your life in which to be GRATEFUL.

So what have we got to lose in 2022 by channeling, thinking, being more GRATEFUL, and showing GRATITUDE every day (as Nick says above) REGARDLESS of whether or not your/our/my current situation is to your/our/my liking.
I can tell you that for 2022 this my word, GRATITUDE, and practicing GRATITUDE, will be my resolution for this year. I am going to walk, talk, think, smell, see, drink and channel GRATITUDE in every ounce of my being and not just to fight my cancer but also to change my life and the vibrations around me.
So here’s to the new and improved Tracy in 2022 – GRATEFUL for being here, GRATEFUL for the journey, and GRATEFUL for all of you, my village, who’ve reached out and expressed your continued love, your support, your prayers, and friendship to me – I am so GRATEFUL for all of you!
Happy New Year Y’all – may you find GRATITUDE in your hearts today and every day this year.
Xo,
Tracy
