As I have been alluding to I have a story to tell which leads to the special announcement that I have chosen to go VIRAL.
I believe they call it being an influencer – how crazy is that? I’ve been an influencer before, maybe not the best influencer, ha.. ha.. but today I am changing that.
I want to provide some background on how this idea came to me and why I have chosen to do this. With my last chemo treatment and the famous steroids as I have spoken about I get some crazy Insomniac nights. On one of these nights (Monday, October 25th to be exact) I was awake with all kinds of things flashing through my brain. I was praying to God to show me what he wanted me to do with this diagnosis. I asked him to guide me on how he wanted me to share what was happening, show me how to make a difference and how to reach out to others that may need to hear what I have to say, to share with others my experiences that may (hopefully) calm their fears and allow them to find FAITH instead of FEAR, to lean on HIM and not yourself. To give PRAISES each step of the way and to KNOW that through it all HE is with YOU. Let me tell you it was an interesting conversation and an interesting night. The bottom line is that I clearly heard HIM tell me to take this VIRAL and watch what I can do. Honestly, as most would I question that?
T: Um, God, are you sure? Do you really think that people want to hear/read what I have to say?
G: Trust in me.
T: Really? Is this just the steroids talking?
G: Trust in me.
T: You know that I’m 50 and I know NOTHING about Instagram or Facebook other than how to post a few photos and update my posts.
G: Trust me.
T: If you say so….
And finally, off to bed, I went for maybe 17 minutes of actual sleep that night. Either way, as you have probably experienced yourself when you have a “dream” or a “conversation” with someone (usually a passed relative or friend) that seems so real while in your sleep, but in the morning you think, “Was that real? Did I really have those conversations last night? Was God telling me to go VIRAL?? Seriously??
The answer y’all was YES!!! What happened next, hands the Bible is God’s honest truth.
When I got up the next morning and headed to the bathroom as I was on the toilet (TMI – I know but I’m sure you love the visual) I grabbed my phone which I NEVER do till after my first cup of coffee, except for THIS day – I had it in my hand and my text messages went off at 6:38 am with the following text from a friend (you know who you are). The text read:
My friend, good morning love!! You. Are. Amazing!!! Journaling your experience is not only therapeutic for you but you have a gift for being clear-minded, warm-hearted, intelligent, succinct and generous with your message and experience so far. Not sure if you have an Instagram page. If you do, I’d encourage you to share the post on IG (with cancer hashtags) and making this viral. You are already impacting so many people in a positive way, let it go viral!!! (Heart emoji, hands clapping emoji, heart emoji). God has bigger plans for you my dear. He is using this experience as an instrument for change!
My response was this:
It’s so crazy that your saying this. Today let’s connect and I’ll tell you what HE’s pressing on my heart and what my conversations with HIM were last night. Love you so much. Thank you for being my warrior and on my team.
Amazing right? GOD VALIDATED OUR CONVERSATION. And the idea for going viral was born.
I will explain in another blog why I chose to name my blog – pinkisnotmykolor. It’s a bit of a play on words: Pink Is Not my Kolor (PINK) are the caps. Hopefully, you will join my new adventure with me, and let’s ride the ride. I know that God has BIG plans and I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do.
